Our Mission:

The Right Step is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that strives to provide, encourage and facilitate Equine assisted activities to improve the quality of life of those with physical, cognitive and emotional challenges.

Currently we are coordinating programs that use NARHA, EGALA, Hippotherapy, and other types of equine assisted activities. Our equine programs are being hosted by Coventry Farms in Littleton CO. MAP

NARHA Therapeutic Riding Program

What is Therapeutic Riding?

Therapeutic Riding, also known as Equine Assisted Therapy, Equine Facilitated Therapy, and Riding for the Disabled, involves the use of the horse and equine-oriented activities to achieve a variety of therapeutic goals, including cognitive, physical, emotional, social, educational and behavioral goals.   A certified NARHA instructor uses props, games and exercises that allow riders to learn complex tasks on the horse, while also incorporating daily living skills and basic education into riding lessons.

Equine Assisted Developmental Programs

The Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association, www.eagala.org, is dedicated to improving the mental health of individuals, families, and groups around the world by setting the standard of excellence in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. This is done in conjunction with licensed mental health professionals.

Hippotherapy

From the AHA website: American Hippotherapy Association Inc. (AHA, Inc.) promotes the use of the movement of the horse as a treatment strategy in physical, occupational and speech-language therapy sessions for people living with disabilities. Hippotherapy has been shown to improve muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination, motor development as well as emotional well-being.

AHA Inc. consists of medical professionals (physical, occupational and speech-language therapists) and others who are interested in the use of equine movement as a treatment strategy.
